Whenever I go to school (usually two days a week), I like to go by a thriftstore in Naarden. This store is located in one of the (what I think to be) richer areas of the Netherlands. This usually results in the items being well-taken care off, as well as having a lot of designer items.
The last week, my haul was kind of small – but fun either way. As you might have learned from the past few blog, I am hunting for Pyrex bowls. They’re extremely durable – and I love the way they look. This week, I found two nice pieces of it. Anyway: let’s take a look, shall we?
Book & magazine
So, ever since I got my Kitchenaid, I’ve really gotten into baking again. Whipping up loafs of bread, baking cakes, pulling chicken – and so forth. I’ve spent a lot of time finding the perfect recipe online and barely any of them are really what I was looking for. I thought that a nice cookbook (I lóve cookbooks) could possibly help in that situation, so when I found a book with Dutch classics – I had to have it. I also found a magazine about photography, from 2016. The reason that I bought this magazine, apart from it being 25 cents, is that it contained an article on my camera (Canon 80D).
Hunger Games keyring
So, a long time ago I read the Hunger Games books. I really loved the series, and watched all the movies when they came out. Anyway: when I came across this Mockingjay keychain, I just really wanted to buy it. And at 30 cents, no complaints here!
A wooden ‘speculaas plank’
When I used to be a child, every now and then I baked cookies with my dad. My dad, being a pastry-chef originally, used to have one of these fella’s in a bigger size. Since I really got into baking, I figured I could use this or have it as a small decoration piece. It being 40 cents, don’t mind if I do!
Pyrex cake bowl
Most of my springforms or baking dishes usually rust up after a while. And even though I could make them last longer by washing them by hand (ugh), I like being able to throw them in the dishwasher. When I came across this €1,50 Pyrex bowl I grabbed it as fast as lightning! Ever since, I’ve used it daily for both bread and cake. At Bol.com, it’s still €18,99 – so I consider this a win :).
A Pyrex oven dish
My parents have two of these bad boys, but I really wanted one of my own. Funnily enough, I really didn’t notice it was this blue until I got home. This one was actually spotted by Jasper, I didn’t spot it myself! At €2, I didn’t find this a bad score either. It still retails for €22,99 at Bol.com
A Blond coffee milk cup
I already have a Blond teapot, so when I spotted this I couldn’t leave it behind. Blond is a very particular Dutch brand, with adorable little drawings on their products. You either hate it, or love it – and I belong in the last category. Although this one was around €10 new, I still bought it.
Ikea SKURAR candle holders
I have a few of these in white, but I adore them in grey too! Anyway, when I saw these I figured they’d hold pens nicely, or anything really. At 50 cents a piece, I took them home.
Jasper didn’t take home as much as I did, lol. He bought an HDMI cable and a Belkin adapter for his MacBook. The Belkin adapter retails at €38,99 – yay for our thriftstore.
